The Ontario Provincial Police Highway Safety Division posted this rendering of a Cybertruck Police vehicle as well as a Model X. There’s already a few police stations using the Model S as well as the Model 3 as part of their squad car fleet. The Cybertruck could prove to be the most versatile. I would vote the Cybertruck over the Model X for police use.

Tesla’s In Law Enforcement
There have been more and more law enforcement agencies that have added Tesla vehicles to their fleet. Tesla Model 3’s seem to be in larger adoption, although I’ve see photos of at least one Model S.
Cybertruck Police Vehicles
I could see the Cybertruck far outpacing the use of other Tesla models. Bulletproof body panels and Tesla armored glass would be big selling points. With the Cybertruck Tri-Motor, 500+ miles of range per charge and 0-60mph in 2.9 seconds would be huge. While Tesla seems to have a large backlog, it will be interesting to see if volume orders are met in the coming years.
One of my neighbors is a State Patrolmen, after letting him test drive our Tesla, he was sold. He wants to see his department add some Tesla’s for at least their track training. His latest squad car left him less than impressed, going from a Chevy Caprice to a Ford Explorer. Acceleration was drastically reduced.
Going with an all electric vehicle with instant torque would solve the slow acceleration concern. With many officers working more than an 8 hour shift, it will be interesting to see how charging and range requirements will fit their needs.
The Dubai Police department has already posted a rendering of a Cybertruck for their fleet. Per Business Insider, Dubia’s Police department already have some of the following vehicles part of their fleet:
- Bugatti Veyron with a 253 mph top speed
- Aston Martin One-77
- Bentley Continental GT
- Hybrid Porsche Panameras (x3),
- BMW i8 (x2)
